The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920)

cabinet1The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is my favorite silent film of all time and I recommend everyone to watch it.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari: Hypnotist Dr. Caligari uses a somnambulist, Cesare, to commit murders.

There have been great films produced during the German Expressionism era and this film is the best one. The set is beautiful and every camera angle captures the expressionism and feelings of the characters so perfectly. Cesare the somnambulist is the best character and is played to perfection by Conrad Veidt.

The story is great and this was one of the first films to have a plot twist and what a great one it is! The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is a work of art filled with expressionism and angst.

Grading: 10 out of 10.
