Amongst sharkfilms like Sharktopus vs Whalewolf, Ice Sharks, Snow Sharks, Sand Sharks etc, it’s good to finally get a good shark film like The Shallows.
The Shallows: A mere 200 yards from shore, surfer Nancy is attacked by a great white shark, with her short journey to safety becoming the ultimate contest of wills.
The Shallows might be a bit slow in the beginning, but I think that only helps the atmosphere and story. Some scenes were very beautifully filmed, especially when Nancy (Blake Lively) gets pulled under the water.
Lively was great in this one and her character made very smart decisions. I was also a bit amazed with the one scene towards the end. The only negative thing is that the shark sometimes looked unreal, but it worked in most shots (a whole lot better than the shark films I mentioned above).
Grading: 7 out of 10.
